EuroRoadS Forum

A statutory meeting established the EuroRoadS Forum on 30 November in Malmö, Sweden. More than 10 organisations participated in the meeting and there are already further  organisations showing an interest in the future development of EuroRoadS results. A core team was appointed to prepare the work plan for EuroRoadS Forum.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was discussed and further developed. A final draft of the MoU is now sent for agreement by all interested parties taking an active role in the EuroRoadS Forum.

The process for finalising the MoU is:

  1. Please send eventual comments on the final draft of the MoU including comments on undertakings and a short description of your organisation before
    31 January 2007.

  2. The final MoU will thereafter be sent to each organisation,  stating an interest in taking part in the EuroRoadS Forum, for signing.

Thereafter, the core team will prepare a work plan for 2007, which will be based on the activities and priorities stated in the MoU.

EuroRoadS Forum an SDIC

The EuroRoadS project was registered as a so called Spatial Data Interest Community (SDIC) for INSPIRE within the Commission. The statutory meeting decided that this role will be taken over by the EuroRoadS Forum.

All providers and users of road data, European organisations working with road information as well as other interested parties are welcome to take part in the EuroRoadS Forum!

Final review of the EuroRoadS project

A final review of the EuroRoadS project was conducted by the Commission in Luxembourg on 5 December. Two external peer-reviewers were invited to evaluate and assess the quality, impact and effectiveness of the project work.

The overall opinion on the project is that it has been successfully completed. The technical parts of the project including the specification framework, quality and demonstrations received generally a high score, while the business and exploitation plan where regarded not to be in an advanced stage. However, the potential for deployment of the project results were recognised, as well as that the results from the project are already used in practice. The establishment of a EuroRoadS Forum supporting new partners and facilitating the use of EuroRoadS results was recommended.
