EuroRoadS specifications
EuroRoadS can now present the final drafts of the
Road Network Information Model and the Specification of Core
European Road Data.
Road Network Information model
The specification on Road Network Information
Model expresses the various data concepts in a formalized way using
application schema rules from ISO 19 100 in order to create a
unified and harmonized road data language.
Core European Road Data
The specification of Core European Road Data
content defines which real world objects are dealt with and how they
are captured and represented using concepts defined in the
information model, i.e. mapping from real world to the conceptual
world.
It
is important to state that the future goal for EuroRoadS is not to
establish a European road database, but to be able to, through
national contributions of data, transform data and provide it to the
market through a uniform data exchange.

specifications:

ITS in Europe
The 5th European Congress and Exhibition on ITS was held on 1-3
June 2005 in Hanover, Germany (HITS2005).
The theme for the event was “ITS at the
Crossroads of European Transport”, where many examples on how ITS
enables a safer and more effective use of the diverse European
transport systems were presented. The Congress gathered a large
number of experts from the different fields of ITS.
The EuroRoadS members Thomas Wiltschko and Thilo Kauffman from the
University of Stuttgart presented the EuroRoadS quality model for
quality assurance of road information.
Please find the conference paper on EuroRoadS quality model here.
EuroRoadS has applied as a Spatial Data
Interest Community (SDIC) in the development of INSPIRE. The
intention is to contribute with deliverables (specifications &
quality model) and of reviewing the implementation rules.
The
Commission intends to present the composition of the
Drafting Teams at the next INSPIRE Expert group meeting, which will
be organised on the 28th of June, during
the 11th EC-GIS Workshop.
