Results from the review of the framework documents

The final drafts of the EuroRoadS framework documents were sent for review during the summer, i.e. the specification on road network information model, the report on core European road data, the road network exchange model and format, and a metadata catalogue.

The review have resulted in comments from both project members and members of the reference groups i.e. CEDR, EuroGeographics and ERTICO. Thanks to all who have contributed with valuable input to the documents!

All received comments have been considered by a project task force group taking decisions on the review outcome. The decisions will be announced to the reviewers.

Most comments regard minor changes concerning comprehension and readability. For example the feature catalogue in the document on core European road data will be presented as an appendix, which will include UML-schemas for each and every attribute, this is to eliminate eventual differences between the documents.

All framework documents will be updated according to decided changes and presented on www.euroroads.org in December.

The next phase in the project is to present, test and verify that the specification framework can be used as a platform for a European road data solution, this will be carried out by developing a prototype. After the demonstration, the framework documents will be updated once more, considering comments and viewpoints from the test and validation of the prototype.

EC Mid Term Review of the EuroRoadS project

On the 8th of September the EuroRoadS project was presented at a mid-term review conducted by the Commission in Luxembourg. Two external peer reviewers were invited to evaluate the results and to assess the quality, impact and effectiveness of the project work.

The general opinion on the project and its results was positive, though a number of valuable comments were given.

The Commission has requested EuroRoadS to be used as a good example when describing benefits from the eContent programme.

EuroRoadS quality concept

The specified EuroRoadS quality concept will be presented at the World Congress on ITS. The concept enables an objective quality description and evaluation of information in processes and is applicable for all actors. It consists of a quality model and an analysing procedure.
