Invitation to the establishment of a EuroRoadS Forum

The EuroRoadS-project will formally terminate on 31 August 2006, though there are still some reports to be concluded.

EuroRoadS has defined common specifications for the provision and exchange of road data, carried out demonstrations and proposed implementation and exploitation activities.

A clear interest to support the deployment of the EuroRoadS results have been shown. Therefore the idea to establish a EuroRoadS Forum to promote and exploit the results has been raised. The idea is to engage both providers and users of public/private-sourced road data.

Memorandum of Understanding

A draft Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been set up as a basis for discussion between potential founders of a EuroRoadS Forum. The final content of the MoU will be decided by stakeholders participating in this process. All providers and users of road data, European organisations working with road information as well as other interested parties are welcome to take part in this process!

Meeting on the MoU and strategic issues

A first strategic meeting will take place on 30 November 2006 in Malmö, Sweden. The main topics are to seek an agreement concerning the content of the MoU, the organsiation of a EuroRoadS Forum as well as undertakings from interested parties. More details concerning the venue will be sent to all interested parties.

  1. Are you interested in taking a active role in the future development of EuroRoadS management structure for the creation of a EuroRoadS Forum, where interested parties can come together and discuss aspects of future collaboration?
  2. If yes, would you like to be invited to a first strategic meeting defining the future EuroRoadS activities?
  3. What are your primarily interests concerning future steps? (Please answer this question even if you are not interested in taking part in the management of a EuroRoadS Forum)

There are already now about 10 organisations stating their interest in the future development of EuroRoadS, willing to define the future activities.
