EC Final review of the EuroRoadS project
A final review of the EuroRoadS project was conducted by the Commission in Luxembourg on 5 December. Two external peer-reviewers were invited to evaluate and assess the quality, impact and effectiveness of the project work. The overall opinion on the project is that it has been successfully completed. The technical parts of the project including the specification framework, quality and demonstrations received generally a high score, while the business and exploitation plan where regarded not to be in an advanced stage. However, the potential for deployment of the project results were recognised, as well as that the results from the project are already used in practice. The establishment of a EuroRoadS Forum supporting new partners and facilitating the use of EuroRoadS results was recommended. |

EuroRoadS Forum
A statutory meeting for a EuroRoadS Forum was held in Malmö, Sweden. More than 10 organisations stated their interest in the future development of EuroRoadS results. |

Termination of the project
The EuroRoadS-project will formally terminate on 31 August 2006, though there are still some reports to be concluded. EuroRoadS has defined common specifications for the provision and exchange of road data, carried out demonstrations and proposed implementation and exploitation activities. |

| 2006-03-23 | Framework documents The EuroRoadS framework documents are now being tested in the demonstation phase of the project. The documents (with status final drafts) are open for comments until 15 June 2006. After that the documents will be "closed" as Final versions and presented on www.euroroads.org. |

framework documents All received comments have been considered by a project task force group taking decisions on the review outcome. The decisions will be announced to the reviewers. Most comments regard minor changes concerning comprehension and readability. For example the feature catalogue in the document on core European road data will be presented as an appendix, which will include UML-schemas for each and every attribute, this is to eliminate eventual differences between the documents. All framework documents will be updated according to decided changes and presented on www.euroroads.org in December. |

EC Mid Term Review of
the EuroRoadS project The general opinion on the project and its results was positive, though a number of valuable comments were given. The Commission has requested EuroRoadS to be used as a good example when describing benefits from the eContent programme. |

The EuroRoadS project was presented during
the 11th EC GI & GIS
Workshop, which was held in Sardinia on 29 June-1 July. The main topic
for the workshop was the INSPIRE directive and how to prepare for
setting the framework for the European spatial data infrastructure. |
