EuroRoadS Forum an SDIC
EuroRoadS Forum is registered as a so called Spatial Data Interest Community (SDIC) within the European Commission. This means that the Forum will have the possibility to review draft implementing rules and other documents being produced within the INSPIRE process. Furthermore, the Forum will have the opportunity to propose experts for the development of implementing rules for the data theme transportation networks.
Documents sent for review by SDIC’s:
-
Definition of Annex Themes and Scope
(Deliverable 2.3) -
Generic Conceptual Model (Deliverable 2.5)
-
Methodology for the development of data specifications (Deliverable 2.6) – is also sent as first draft for an internal review.
Interested to take part?
Organisations who are interested to take
part in review process are welcome to
contact the Forum secretariat.
The exact form and timetable for the reviewing process will depend
on the interest to take part, but we assume that most of the work will
be carried out by using email and the Projectplace for working out
comments.
The Commission has invited LMO’s and SDIC’s to nominate experts to take part in the development of Implementing Rules for the different data themes being covered by the Directive. EuroRoadS Forum stakeholders are welcome to show announce their eventual interest in participating in this work.
Of specific interest for all who have taken part in (or followed) the EuroRoadS project as well as those who now are interested in the deployment of the results – as active stakeholders in EuroRoadS Forum or as bystanders – is the following:
Definition of Annex Themes and Scope
The description of the need for an
integrated transport network and of important feature types and
attributes follows, when it concerns road networks, the results from the
EuroRoadS project. EuroRoadS specifications of core European road data
are also highlighted as important reference documents and EuroRoadS
Forum is suggested as the main contributor in further specification
work.
It is important to note that the document is not a draft Implementing Rule, but a guiding document targeted to support the process of developing data specifications that will eventually become Implementing Rules. Link to the document.
Generic Conceptual
Model
The document addresses the definition of
the genereic conceptual model for the themes in the Annexes of the
INSPIRE Directive including the definition of:
- Spatial and temporal representations of spatial objects across different levels of detail
- Spatial and temporal relationships between spatial objects
- Unique object identifiers
- Constraints
- Reference to common spatial and temporal reference systems as well as multilingual thesauri
The generic conceptual model is intended as the reference point for further data specification and harmonisations processes, and as a common baseline for the representation of the spatial, topological and temporal characteristics of the modelled real world entities.
Also this document is not a draft Implementing Rule, but is targeted to help in the process of developing data specifications that will eventually become Implementing Rules.
The basic principles in the document are in line with how the EuroRoadS project developed its framework of specifications for road networks. Link to the document
Methodology for the development of data specifications
The document proposes a methodology to
develop data specifications for the Annex themes. It is intended to
assist the Consolidation Team in drafting Terms of Reference for the
SDICs, LMOs and Thematic Working Groups that will develop the data
specifications for different themes and also to provide guidance to the
experts who get involved in the development of data specifications.
Many of the examples being used in the document originate from documents being produces within the EuroRoadS project.
The
document is sent for review by INSPIRE Drafting Team and Consolidation
Team and is not yet available for the public. But, if anyone has a
well-founded interest to receive the document it can be arranged.
